Guide to Buildmark_PRODUCT

Your guide to Buildmark (for plots registered before 1 April 2018)

Your guide to Buildmark helps you to explain NHBC’s 10-year Buildmark policy. This is for use with plots registered prior to 1 April 2018 only.

Buildmark is a joint agreement between registered builders/developers and NHBC to provide warranty and insurance protection on newly built homes, from exchange of contracts up to a maximum period of 10 years after the completion date. This leading warranty and insurance protection for new homes is recognised and accepted by mortgage lenders, and properties are inspected at key stages during construction.

The brochure describes how Buildmark works, what is covered by the policy, and what is excluded. It also states who is responsible for repairing defects during the first ten years after completion of a new house, and contains information regarding the NHBC Resolution Service and guarantee, the Minimum Claim Value and limits for claims under Buildmark.

For all plots registered after 1 April 2018 please order the NEW Welcome to NHBC warranty and Insurance document, which has been created as part of the Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) requirements, requiring consumers to be informed about warranty and insurance on their new build home as early as possible in the home buying process.
